This tour in a nutshell

Join our local guides for a week long hiking holiday in the Portuguese southwest Coast, walking on the best trails of the Rota Vicentina.

Set out on an enchanting seaside hiking journey along the Vicentina Coast Natural Park, exploring its quaint fisherman villages and secluded beaches while immersing yourself in the laidback atmosphere of the remarkable South West Alentejo region. Discover the serene landscapes of the Southwest Alentejo Natural Park, a pristine stretch of European coastline which has been drawing global attention from zoologists and botanists for its biodiversity and preservation state. Delight in the diverseness of beaches, all from expansive white sand beaches to intimate coves, Malhão, Vila Nova de Milfontes, Almograve, Monte Clérigo, Arrifana and Praia do Amado, many of them preserved in a virtually unspoiled state.

The Alentejo trails, with their gentle topography, provide a welcoming setting for walking enthusiasts of all levels. Embark with us on a hike from Almograve to the most southwestern point of Europe, Cape Saint Vincent, and take on the opportunity to visit the Sagres promontory, a lookout point on which the globalisation-pioneer ‘Henry the navigator’ chose to build a fort and his residence back in the XV century.

Indulge in the region's authentic gastronomy and outstanding wines, savoring fresh caught fish and seafood. Challenge yourself with daily hiking options tailored to your preferences, all offering privileged views of the Atlantic beaches. Immerse yourself in this walking tour, defining your goals and pace while relishing the unparalleled beauty of the Southwest Alentejo.

Another of the highlights is the charming village of Azenha do Mar, where fisherman also dedicate some of their time to the gathering of seaweed, which is then dried and sold to local industries, that turn it into fertiliser. As you ascend on dirt roads, you'll conquer a gradual climb, unveiling the beauty of the hilly coastal landscape until you find yourself immersed in a eucalyptus forest. Navigate a series of hills, enjoying the undulating terrain until the scenery unfolds, revealing a breathtaking downhill path leading you to the pristine coast and the enchanting beach of Bordeira. Concluding your hike in Carrapateira, you'll be whisked back to your hotel, capping off a day of scenic exploration and physical accomplishment.

/ I walk/hike on a regular basis, for fitness. I prefer rolling terrain but enjoy reaching my goals and enjoy an active lifestyle. I like to overcome some challenges, but mostly enjoy the landscapes and atmosphere, going out on hikes up to 2 or three hours.

You will get to hike at your own pace, in moderate distances and hop on our van if you so desire or challenge yourself when you feel comfortable! You’ll get to walk in a group with like-minded people and accompanied by our guides, discovering the best of Portugal

/ Hiking is a great part of my life, and I walk regularly. I am comfortable with hikes of 3 to 4 hours, or even more at a relatively strong pace. I like to be challenged and to surpass obstacles, so that I can explore more and discover the most beautiful places.

You will get to explore different riding experiences, from tougher climbs to walking along in great company. You’ll have time to enjoy the great landscapes, but also enjoy the descents and push yourself climbing those tough hills. You’ll enjoy the variety of terrain, and pushing a little harder to get off the beaten path.
