Walking tours by St. James path: Explore the ancient paths that traverse woods, farmlands, villages and historical cities, from Porto to Santiago de Compostela.
We took the walking trail of S. Cristovão do Douro. Our daughter loved it and was quite curious about the information the guide was giving. The weather helped as it was mild in March, I advise you to take a camera to photograph the beautiful sceneries that the Douro offers. The walk itself lasted for a couple of hours but we took our time. Do bring a hat if it's sunny! The restaurant where the guide took us was very good, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. I would do this activity again and I will certainly be attentive to new walking tours in Portugal.
We had the chance to visit the city while enjoying romantic monuments and escape from the city to the natural park. Sintra is surrounded by land and sea, a marvellous choice for our walking holidays. From Sintra hill, you can see the westernmost point of Europe, which makes some of the hikes quite epic. The hiking routes in Portugal were carefully planned to experience incredible sightseeing points, great local food and excellent hotels for a good night of rest and recovery.
