Great communication. Answered all of our questions in a timely manner. Our 7 day self guided trip (5 days of hiking) was both beautiful and challenging. The hike we did-Algarve Southwest Coast-is recommended for experienced hikers. You will encounter some steep ascents/descents so be sure to match hikes with your experience. Luis was extremely helpful and available when we had questions. The provided app with maps and restaurants/sights suggestions worked well. The hotels were excellent. Highly recommended!
If you are reading this review … then you must be considering … Live, Love, Hike … so research no further … you have already found the BEST company to hike with in Portugal!!!
We did (2) different 1 week hikes with LLH. Our first was in the Douro Valley and the second was a month later in the Algarve. Both were FANTASTIC! We were particularly blessed to have the same guide each time!!!
Sergio was an absolute ROCK STAR! He was a complete professional … extremely knowledgeable about the history, culture, food, wine, vegetation, etc about each area. It was such a joy having someone make every decision for us. Leaving us with nothing to do but ENJOY!
He knew all the best restaurants, cafes & picnic stops. In the evenings he would recommend the specialties of each area and what wine to pair it with. We ALWAYS knew that we were in awesome hands with Sergio.
We upgraded to the premium accommodations and found them to be delightful. They were always welcomed after our long daily adventures. I can confidently say that LLH will offer you a wonderful opportunity to truly immerse yourself in whatever area of Portugal you choose to explore. And ask for Sergio if he’s available😉
4 of us went to Portugal for some active vacations and besides cycling we also booked a self-guided tour in the Southwest Coast with Live Love Hike. They met us at our hotel in Lisbon and transferred us to the coast to start our hike. We stayed in a great mix of rural hotels, all very comfortable, and hiked along this unexplored coastal area of Portugal. Some great scenic hikes along the rugged coast and clifftops of Arrifana, Carrapateira and Sagres with the ocean as backdrop. Beautiful beaches and coves, some of them almost deserted. Brilliant food, especially the fresh fish and seafood. Finishing the hike in a place like Sagres, right in the southern tip of the country is fantastic.
The Algarve is internationally known for its golden beaches and sunny climate, but beyond the resort towns lies one of Portugal’s most rewarding walking destinations. Coastal trails wind above dramatic cliffs, fishermen’s paths connect hidden beaches, and peaceful inland routes pass through traditional villages, cork forests, and untouched natural landscapes.
Walking through the Algarve reveals a slower and more authentic side of southern Portugal. From the rugged Atlantic coastline of the Costa Vicentina to the tranquil eastern Algarve near the Spanish border, the region offers an exceptional variety of hiking experiences.

What makes our Algarve walking tours different:
We focus on creating walking holidays that feel immersive, relaxed, and genuinely connected to the places you visit.
The Algarve offers a unique combination of coastal beauty, mild climate, and diverse landscapes that make it one of Europe’s best walking holiday destinations.
The region’s trails range from dramatic Atlantic cliff paths and hidden coves to quiet countryside routes lined with almond trees, cork oaks, and traditional whitewashed villages. Along the coast, walkers experience constantly changing ocean views, rugged rock formations, and peaceful beaches far removed from the busy resort areas.
Walking through the Algarve also reveals the region’s strong connection to the sea and traditional Portuguese culture. Small fishing communities, local seafood restaurants, historic towns, and relaxed Mediterranean rhythms shape the experience throughout the journey.
One of the highlights of hiking in the Algarve is exploring sections of the famous Fishermen’s Trail along the Costa Vicentina.
This spectacular long-distance trail follows ancient fishermen’s paths above the Atlantic Ocean, connecting remote beaches, rugged cliffs, dunes, and small coastal villages. The scenery is among the most dramatic in Portugal and has become internationally recognized as one of Europe’s best coastal hiking routes.
Our Costa Vicentina walking tours combine the most scenic sections of the trail with comfortable accommodations, seamless logistics, and carefully designed itineraries that balance hiking with relaxation and cultural discovery.
A key part of the Live Love Hike experience is the comfort and support we provide throughout your Algarve walking holiday.
Depending on the tour style, accommodations may include boutique coastal hotels, charming guesthouses, countryside stays, and premium accommodations selected for comfort, character, and location.

This allows travelers to enjoy the Algarve fully while we take care of the logistics behind the scenes.
The Algarve is one of the best year-round walking destinations in Europe thanks to its mild climate and sunny weather.
Spring and autumn are particularly popular for hiking due to comfortable temperatures, blooming landscapes, and excellent trail conditions. Winter is also a great time for walking, especially for travelers looking to escape colder northern European climates.
Summer can be ideal for coastal walking tours when combined with early hiking starts, beach stops, and relaxed seaside evenings.
Each season offers a different experience, and our team can help recommend the best itinerary based on your travel preferences and fitness level.
Walking through the Algarve gives you the time to experience a side of southern Portugal that is easy to miss when travelling by car. The journey unfolds between cliffside paths, hidden beaches, fishing villages and quiet stretches of countryside, with the Atlantic almost always somewhere on the horizon.
There is time to stop for lunch in a small coastal town, swim at the end of a walk or simply stay a little longer at a viewpoint before continuing along the trail. It is this slower rhythm, as much as the scenery itself, that makes the Algarve such a rewarding place to explore on foot.
And the Algarve is only one side of the country. Our walking tours in Portugal also explore vineyard landscapes, historic pilgrimage routes, volcanic islands and the green countryside of the north, each offering a very different experience.
If you are still deciding which region is right for you, discover where to walk in Portugal and compare the landscapes, culture and character of our different walking destinations.
