Explore Portugal’s wine countries on foot, and get to take part in the century old traditions, cultures and heritage of the Alentejo and Douro regions. By the Douro valley, you’ll explore the world’s first demarcated wine region, surrounded by vineyards planted in terraces overlooking the Douro river, where the small wooden boats carried the wine in barrels towards Porto – hikers will find it challenging to reach the bet viewpoints. In Alentejo, a much different landscape marks the territory, where cork oaks live alongside olive trees and cattle; voted best wine country in the world in 2014, it’s vast views and fortified cities atop of hills mark this peaceful territory.
Seaside and beaches
Our beautiful coastline is a treat for hikers. Portugal has the biggest Atlantic coast in Europe, and part of it is devoted to natural parks like Southwest and Vicentina Coastal park, where you’ll find cliffs over gorgeous and hidden beaches, carved by the ocean. Here, the most beautiful Portuguese beaches, sea life and birds blend in with small, quaint villages where you’ll get to savor freshly caught fish, while enjoying some of the best white wines of Alentejo and Algarve – hikers should carry swimsuits to enjoy the beaches.

/ Hiking is a great part of my life, and I walk regularly. I am comfortable with hikes of 3 to 4 hours, or even more at a relatively strong pace. I like to be challenged and to surpass obstacles, so that I can explore more and discover the most beautiful places.
You will get to explore different riding experiences, from tougher climbs to walking along in great company. You’ll have time to enjoy the great landscapes, but also enjoy the descents and push yourself climbing those tough hills. You’ll enjoy the variety of terrain, and pushing a little harder to get off the beaten path.
3 EXPERT

I love to climb, hike, do trail running and tackle big climbs to long, technical descents, especially the ones that allow me to push my limits and make long lasting memories. I love to spend the full day walking or even trail running.
