With a history spanning over 200 years, Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo occupies over 120 ha of land and has been listed since the first demarcation of the Douro wine region, in 1756, during the Pombaline era. The original wine cellar that dates back to 1764 and the 19th-century manor house with a chapel (1765) are harmoniously integrated into one of the estate’s hills.

Staying in the manor house enables guests to feel the ambience of a large Portuguese family home, surrounded by the valley’s spectacular scenery along a 1.5 km stretch of the Douro River, in one of the most emblematic zones of the region.

In the morning guests are welcomed at a huge farm table with a delicious traditional breakfast. The gardens are surrounded by centuries-old trees, cypresses and native plants that invite visitors to take a dip in the small pool overlooking the vineyards. During the stay, it is also possible to take an invigorating walk along the three routes signalled in the Estate, spanning eight kilometres, which offer the chance to experience the true spirit of the region.
